Notice Regarding Tier 2 and LEV II-Certified Vehicles
in ACEEE's Green Book^®

The evaluation methodology used in ACEEE's Green Book^® for model year 2003 does not yet address Tier 2 and LEV II emission standards set to go into effect for model year 2004. Some automakers have started voluntarily introducing vehicles certified to Tier 2 and LEV II standards, including models that are notably cleaner than similar vehicles certified to current Tier 1 and LEV standards. Once a methodology is updated to reflect the new standards, these models will likely have higher Green Scores than are listed in this edition of ACEEE's Green Book^®.

The list of affected models is shown below and posted on the GreenerCars.com website. Models marked with an asterisk (*) are likely to have significantly higher Green Scores using a methodology reflecting the new standards. Vehicles will be re-scored once the methodology is in place—watch the website for details.
